Grade 5/6 Performance

This year the Grade 5/6 Performance is called 'The Keymaster'. In case you don't know how a performance is different from a production, please see the differences below (our school alternates between a Grade 5/6 Production and a Performance each year; this year we are doing a Performance):

  • In a Production, the students are cast individually into 1 role that they keep the whole play
  • In a Performance, each class of students is given 1 or 2 songs to sing and each student changes roles within each song
  • In a Production there is a dedicated group of Crew who manage the props and sets for the entire show or the whole act
  • In a Performance each class has their own crew who bring sets and props onto the stage for the specific song then take them off the stage at the completion of the song (and store them in another location away from the Performing Arts Centre, i.e. the Hall)
  • In a Production there are 2 showings and a company is hired to record a professional DVD
  • In a Performance there is 1 showing and the audience are welcome to film their own home recordings
There are 5 main characters in 'The Keymaster' who tie each song/scene together and students are currently auditioning this week for these main roles: 'The Keymaster' and four students: 'Ben', 'Max', 'C-J' and 'Samantha or Sam'.
